Mental Representations of Values and Behaviors

چکیده

The present research provides the first direct assessment of fit diverse behaviors to putatively related personal and social values from Schwartz’s theory. Across three studies, we examined spatial representations value-related that were explicitly derived people’s mental values. Participants asked how similar each other various values, these judgments used specify multidimensional scaling solutions. results indicated representation was consistent with two-dimensional space described in model although several deviations occurred. For example, self-enhancement widely spread, indicating more variation way individuals interpret behaviors, which are often associated value types. These data provide evidence a range can at least partly be reduced underlying motivations expressed by Furthermore, our findings indicate might help explain why value–behavior associations previous studies weak. Finally, they illustrate new approach learning relate multiple

compactifications and representations of transformation semigroups

this thesis deals essentially (but not from all aspects) with the extension of the notion of semigroup compactification and the construction of a general theory of semitopological nonaffine (affine) transformation semigroup compactifications. it determines those compactification which are universal with respect to some algebric or topological properties. as an application of the theory, it is i...

Mental Representations of Lyrical Prose

The article analyzes mental representations of Russian lyrical prose texts. The texts demonstrate collective memory engrams that are defined by cultural and historical legacy of the nation and authors’ creative world perception. Learning Hierarchical Representations and Behaviors

Learning to perform via reinforcement typically requires extensive search through an intractably large space of possible behaviors. In the brain, reinforcement learning is hypothesized to be carried out in large measure by the basal ganglia / striatal complex (Schultz 2000; Granger 2005), a phylogenetically old set of structures that dominate the brains of reptiles. The striatal complex in huma...

Preschool children's mental representations of attachment: antecedents in their secure base behaviors and maternal attachment scripts.

This study examined the antecedents of preschool age children's mental representations of attachment, assessed using the Attachment Story Completion Task (ASCT). Antecedent predictors were maternal attachment scripts, assessed using the Attachment Script Assessment (ASA), and the child's secure base behaviors, assessed using the Attachment Q-Set (AQS). Participants were 121 mothers and their pr...

Mental Representations of Weekdays

Keeping social appointments involves keeping track of what day it is. In practice, mismatches between apparent day and actual day are common. For example, a person might think the current day is Wednesday when in fact it is Thursday. Here we show that such mismatches are highly systematic, and can be traced to specific properties of their mental representations. In Study 1, mismatches between a...
